JOB DESCRIPTION – AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM COORDINATOR
JD: GBPC After School Program Coordinator

The After School Program Coordinator leads and manages the weekday elementary After School Program
at GBPC. The Coordinator supports the academic, social, and spiritual growth of participating children in a
safe, nurturing environment aligned with Christian values.
Accountability:
This part-time, non-exempt position reports to the Pastor as head of staff with supervision from the
Director of Youth and Family Ministries. Oversight is provided by the Christian Education Committee of
the Church Session.
Responsibilities:
• Plan, implement, and oversee daily after school activities including homework help, enrichment,
recreation, and faith-based learning
o Plan for and setup activities
o Meet the children at the bus stop on schooldays
o Promote a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment for children, incorporating
Christian principles into daily activities
o Coordinate snack distribution and ensure compliance with health and safety standards
o Supervise After School Program staff and volunteers during program hours
o Sweep, wipe down and store tables/chairs, and make sure supplies are put away each day
o Communicate regularly with parents and church leadership regarding program goals and
events
• Maintain accurate records of attendance, incidents, and supplies
• Organize and lead periodic family engagement events or special holiday programs
• Recruit and train volunteers
• Assist with approved fundraising or donations for program support
• Participate in team meetings
• Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
• High school diploma required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Education, Child Development,
or a related field preferred
• Strong Christian faith and the ability to share the love of Jesus with others
• A personal commitment to Christian values and faith-based service
• Minimum of 2 years of experience working with children in an educational or faith-based setting
• Teaching, management, or supervisory experience preferred
• Volunteer coordination experience preferred
• Energetic and enthusiastic
• Positive attitude with concern for people and community
• Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
• CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
• Satisfactory background check and child safety training required
Working Conditions:
• Weekday afternoon hours
• Indoor and outdoor activities
• Ability to stand, bend, lift 25 pounds and engage in active play with children
Compensation:
• Part-time, hourly, non-exempt
• Hourly rate commensurate with experience; up to 24 hours per week
• Core hours: 2:00-6:00 pm on Monday-Friday when Santa Rosa County School is in session (38
weeks/year)
Vacation/Paid Time Off: Not eligible
Evaluation:
Following successful completion of a 90-day Introductory Period, performance reviews are conducted
annually by the Pastor in conjunction with the Personnel Committee on behalf of the church Session.
